Dairy Records Provider Update

Most Minnesota DHIA members have chosen to transfer record processing services from AgriTech Analytics to Dairy Records Management Systems (DRMS).  DRMS was selected by the Board of Directors after a thorough investigation of alternatives, including processing their DHIA data at all computer centers and extensive discussion and research.  The Board deserves our thanks for the organized and professional way they conducted the study, and for the amount of time and thought that they dedicated to the decision.

Herds at DRMS now receive substantially the same Herd Summary, Reproduction, Condensed, Pre-Printed Registration Applications, Somatic Cell Count, SCC Flex, and SCC tank reports as have been provided.  Some new information and a few “tweaks” have been added.  There will be additional information added as the number of times a herd processes at DRMS increases.  DRMS maintains an extensive historical database for research, management information, and consultant use.  Programming on the Condensed Report is newly completed and herds processing after July 16 will have those available for consultants and herds on the option.

The barn cards, cow pages, and genetic reports are very similar to those you have received in the past.

The Calf Reports and Calf Pages are more extensive than in the past and now include a summary that you might find interesting and useful.  Those of you reporting feed will get a separate feed summary report.

Action Lists are a little different at first glance, and a new Action List format starts with herds processing after July 10.  These lists are designed to be used for date recording.  Very similar quarter page Action Lists are available from your Field Rep on your farm on sample day.  Current Action Lists do not include the SCC sheet, Fat-Protein Inversion, or Low Cows.  Those can certainly be added if there is interest.

There will be many new options and features starting this fall.  In the mean time, consultants will be getting information about how to use the DRMS website and its very popular Dairy Metrics Program.

If you have internet access, you can access your reports within seconds of processing being completed.  This will be a nice feature (and its free right now) for weekends and holidays:

  1. logon to www.DRMS.org
  2. Select “Producer Services” from the top green bar.
  3. select “DHIA Reports” under the “Producer Products” header
  4. Go to the second gold bar called "Web Reports" and click to sign in (set your password the first time in) – you will need your herd code and your access code (the one you give consultants)
  5. View this months reports as well as past months (only for months you have processed there)

If you have comments or suggestions, please contact Minnesota DHIA at 800.827.3442, and press 14, 19, or 35 to share your ideas with us.
